Migration to Windows XP 32-bit
- create first primary partition as FAT32 with size 1 GB and label “HP_TOOLS” for EFI applications and tools (pdf) and make directories
- HEWLETT-PACKARD/QuickLook
- HEWLETT-PACKARD/SystemDiags
- HEWLETT-PACKARD/BIOS
- HEWLETT-PACKARD/BIOS/Current
- in SETUP of EFI in “System Configuration” and “Devices” set “SATA mode” to “IDE” (instead of “AHCI”) – Windows XP can’t be installed on AHCI controller due to an error
- during setup of Windows XP 32-bit create second primary partition as NTFS and install the system
- in the system install driver of AHCI controller and switch access mode
- select Update Driver from Device Manager as mentioned in the first reply to this post
- pick from list of device drivers on your computer
- select (Standard IDE ATA/ATAPI controller) > Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
- restart your PC
- in SETUP of EFI in “System Configuration” and “Devices” set “SATA mode” to “AHCI” (instead of “IDE”)
- enable PAE switch in
boot.ini
if needed (see [[blog*win32-above-4gb]]) - install HP drivers and EFI tools, especially
- HP FastLook Software, HP QuickWeb Software, HP System Diagnostics UEFI, HP BIOS Update UEFI
- all of them should run and unbundle into the
C:/swsetup
directory and be installed in/HEWLETT-PACKARD
, e.g. as./QuickLook/QuickLook.efi
, and have signatures, eg. in./QuickLook/QuickLook.sig
